On Saturday, February 22, the High Point Village Bears competed in their first Special Olympics competition! Following weeks of practice at BodyWorks, the team participated in Basketball Team Skills. Team members include Alex Briesh, Andy Freeman, Beth Freeman, Jacquessa Ryan, Ben Garcia, Lisa Springer, David Luna, Jud Delone, Deeann Delone, Jake Miller, Jason Johnson, Elizabeth Garcia, Erin Waddle, Stacy Newsome, Brandon Ferguson, Esther Garcia, Lacy Hendrickson, Isaac Bacio, and Justin Sanders. This Special Olympics event was hosted at the Tiger Pit at Frenship High School and Frenship Middle School’s gym. Local law enforcement officials hosted the Opening Ceremonies, introducing each of the competing teams and offering cheers and high fives to each team as the torch was carried around the gym. The High Point Village Bears competed at the Frenship Middle School, earning three GOLD medals and one SILVER medal! Along with family, friends and other competing teams, the High Point Village Bears enjoyed lunch, provided by the First Baptist Church in Wolfforth, and danced the night away at Frenship High School.
