Meet the Spring Interns

Intern Bailey

Originally from the East Texas town of Lone Oak, Intern Bailey discovered her passion for people with special needs early on in life. Bailey was a life skills coach in high school and quickly knew this was something she truly loved. When she came to Tech to pursue a degree in Social Work, she did some research and discovered High Point Village. Bailey started volunteering at High Point Village in September by assisting in Cooking and Bible classes. She is now one of the Reach High Interns and works closely with Jaimie. In her free time, Bailey enjoys reading, being with friends, and taking photos.

“The best part of High Point is the constant infectious joy.” Bailey says, “You can’t help but be joyful when you come here because of the Villagers and staff!”

Intern Hannah

Reach High is welcoming sophomore Psychology major, Hannah, as one of their new interns. Hannah is from Fort Worth, Texas. When she came to Tech, she wanted to find a great, impactful place to volunteer. She discovered High Point Village online and instantly knew it would be a perfect fit. In her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time with her friends and family and is a huge TV series fan!

“My favorite thing about High Point is how happy and exciting the environment is!” Hannah says, “Everyone you talk to is so positive and kind. It is such a fun place to be.”

Intern Katie

Intern Katie is a senior at Texas Tech University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. Katie became the Communications Intern in the fall of 2016. Her responsibilities include posting to social media outlets, capturing photos and videos, and assisting with events/fundraisers. In her free time, Katie enjoys listening to John Mayer, attending sporting events, and drinking way too much coffee.

“My favorite thing about High Point Village has to be the relationships I’ve built here.” Katie says, “Every time I step in the building, it feels like home. I have truly found a family in Lubbock.”

Intern Mary

Our newest Enrichment and Outreach Intern is junior Dietetics major, Mary. Taylor Bolin, the previous Reach High Fitness instructor, was Mary’s childhood neighbor in Wichita Falls, TX! Taylor informed Mary of High Point Village and she knew it would be a great place for her! Mary works closely with Anna by assisting with Afternoon Enrichment Classes and special events! In her free time, Mary loves to workout, knit, hunt, and hang out with her teacup poodle, Jack.

“I love how everyone puts 100% in,” Marys says, “Everyone who volunteers truly cares! I love getting to know the Villagers!”

Intern Stevie

Our newest Fitness intern, Stevie, has a true passion for physical activities. She especially loves yoga and riding her bike. Stevie is originally from Amarillo. She originally heard of High Point Village through Reach High Coordinator, Cat! Stevie heard the excitement and passion that Cat had when describing High Point Village and immediately peaked her interest. Stevie is currently a Senior Human Development and Family Studies student.

“My favorite thing about High Point Village is how much the villagers genuinely welcome me when I walk in the door!” Stevie says, “It makes me excited to come to a place where people are excited to see me!”
